NORFOLK-A former City of Norfolk employee was sentenced Friday to a year behind bars to be followed by three years of supervised release for his role in a bribery scheme involving a plumbing company.
56-year-old Patrick R. Lambert pleaded guilty in May.
He resigned from his job as a facilities maintenance supervisor in April.
He had accepted about $17,000 worth of plumbing from A.T. Zoby Mechanical Inc., according to court documents, and then Zoby would then recover those costs by sending fake invoices to the city.
Andrew Zoby Jr., the company owner, received a 15-month sentence; a retired plumber and city employee, Michael Brown, is scheduled to be sentenced on September 25.
