SUFFOLK -- One person was shot as a police officer responded to a call of a fight in progress, authorities say.
Investigators remain on the scene at a two-story home in the 200 block of Central Avenue.
Spokeswoman Debbie George says the man displayed a gun during the incident, but the circumstances that led to the officer firing a weapon were still being investigated.
The victim was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and was taken directly to the emergency room. His condition wasn't released.
No officers were hurt and investigators are interviewing witnesses.
