ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.  -  Just in time for Veterans Day, the long-awaited Veterans Affairs clinic in Elizabeth City will open Thursday afternoon.

The state-of-the-art Albemarle Primary Outpatient Clinic is located at 1845 West City Drive.  The 8,000+ square foot facility can serve up to 2,400 Veterans who qualify for VHA services from the surrounding counties.

“The VA remains committed to bringing world-class health care and greater access to care for Veterans throughout northeastern North Carolina communities,” DeAnne M. Seekins, director of the Hampton VA Medical Center, said.

Construction began in January and, with the opening, veterans from northeastern North Carolina won't have to drive to the Hampton facility for primary care and mental health services.

The clinic will serve Hertford, Gates, Chowan, Perquimans, Pasquotank, Camden, Currituck, Tyrell and Dare counties.
