Kaine signs Abraham's Law
08:21 AM EDT on Thursday, March 22, 2007
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- "Abraham's Law" is now a Virginia law.
Governor Tim Kaine signed into law the bill giving teenagers and their parents the right to refuse doctor-recommended treatments for life-threatening ailments.
The law arose from the case of Abraham Cherrix -- the 16-year-old Eastern Shore teenager who battled the state in court for the right to get alternative therapy for his Hodgkin's disease.
