State approves $200 million makeover for Bon Secours DePaul hospital

NORFOLK -- Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center is getting a makeover.

The state issued a certificate of public need to replace the existing facililty with a 124-acute care bed, state-of-the-art, full-service hospital.

The hospital will have an intensive care unit, obstetrical unit, full service emergency department and an advanced imaging center for MRIs and CTs and other services.

The 300,000 square foot, $200 million facility will be on the current site at 150 Kingsley Lane in Norfolk and should be completed in late 2014.

"We are pleased that the Deputy Commissioner has approved our plan to build a new Bon Secours DePaul," said Peter J. Bernard, CEO, Bon Secours Virginia Health System. "As we plan for and look ahead to the new DePaul, Bon Secours will remain committed to growing our programs and services, and providing exceptional, personalized care."
