U.S. Senate - Republican
George Allen is the son of NFL coach George Allen.
He started his professional career as a law clerk in Southwest Virginia for Judge Glen M. Williams.
He’s a self-described “Common Sense Jeffersonian Conservative” and held Thomas Jefferson’s seat in the Virginia General Assembly, where he served in the House of Delegates from 1991-1993.
He served as governor of Virginia from 1994-1998 and successfully ran for U.S. Senate in 2000. He lost re-election to Democrat Jim Webb, who is now leaving politics, so Allen is hoping to regain the seat.
Allen supports veterans’ issues, wants to simplify the federal tax system and supports small businesses. He opposes defense cuts. He says he’s an advocate for ideas and solutions that rein in our overreaching and overspending government, create a pro-growth environment for American competitiveness and jobs, and unleash our diverse American energy resources for American jobs and national security.Read More
