What is it? a chips maker and food slicer

What does it claim? to make fat-free, crispy chips in only three minutes in the microwave.

Who tested it?  Virginia Beach resident Teresa Austin

What Are The Instructions?
The first thing you need to do is wash your TopChips Kit before using.  You can either do it by hand or in the dishwasher.  Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

Once it's clean, you're ready to get started.  Begin by slicing your fruit or vegetables with the enclosed food slicer.  Then place your slices on the TopChips without overlapping. Next place your TopChips in the microwave and cook according to directions.  Times will vary from three minutes to six minutes thirty seconds depending on the item.  Times can also vary depending on the microwave, its age and the thickness of the food slices.

One tip we learned when cooking potatoes is to dry them before putting them on the TopChips

Once cooking is complete, let the food sit for 30 seconds then remove chips from the TopChip.

Now your chips are ready to be seasoned and served.

Did it work?
Austin was very impressed.  She's been working on eating healthier, so she had been trying to make her own potato chips in the oven.  But she found they would always stick to the foil on the pan.

With TopChips, she was able to slice her potatoes super thin and in just three minutes in the microwave, they became crispy chips and they didn't stick.

She also said they were the best chips she had ever tasted.

The only negative thing she had to say about TopChips was, because of the size, she could only cook a few chips at a time.  Because they were so tasty, she wished she could fit more on the tray.

We also tried making apple chips and we followed the directions and cooked them for three minutes and thirty seconds.  But Austin  thought they may have cooked a little too long because they got crispier than she liked, although she said they did taste pretty good with cinnamon and nutmeg sprinkled on them.

Cost/Availability?
You can purchase the TopChips Kit at Bed Bath & Beyond for $19.99.

Additional Comments:
Be sure to never use sharp objects with your TopChips because it can be pierced.
