What is it?  a microwave cooker

What does it claim? to help you make gourmet meals in minutes

Who tested it? Norfolk resident Nancy McMahon

What Are The Instructions? Stone Wave comes with a book of 5-minute recipes with a variety of gourmet meals inside -- everything from poached eggs to eggplant Parmesan and even desserts like Baked Apple Crisp Dessert.

All you have to do is follow the recipes and put all the ingredients you need into your Stone Wave. Then put the lid on your Stone Wave and put it into the microwave to cook.

It's important to note here Stone Wave is only intended for use in the microwave oven.   The steam-release chimney and domed lid help re-circulate the heat, which is the best way to cook in your microwave.

All the recipes should be cooked on high.  Keep in mind that microwave cooking times will vary. so once you're done cooking, check to make sure your food is thoroughly cooked.  If it needs more cooking, put it back in the microwave and heat in 15-second intervals until it is thoroughly cooked.

If you are using more than one Stone Wave at a time, be sure to allow additional cooking time.

When removing your Stone Wave from the microwave oven, the hollow handle should stay cool enough to hold most every food item.  However, the handle could get warm, so give it a quick touch before removing it from the oven.  If it feels too warm, use a potholder to remove it.  And you should always use a potholder when you take off the lid.

When you're ready to clean, Stone Wave can go right in the dishwasher or be hand washed with warm soapy water and then rinsed.

Did it work?  McMahon says yes.  She was very impressed.  She likes poached eggs, but they usually take so long to make she rarely has them.  With Stone Wave, her poached egg was ready in less than two minutes. She said it was done perfectly.  She also made a baked apple crisp, which would usually take an hour in the oven.  With Stone Wave, she was enjoying it in less than five minutes.  She also said clean up was a breeze. She says after seeing how much she can do with Stone Wave and how quickly she can do it, she plans to get one for her kitchen.

Cost/Availability? You can purchase the Stone Wave for $9.99 at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
