What is it? An ultrasonic training aid to stop dogs from barking.

What does it claim? To stop annoying barking and it works up to 20 feet away.

Who tested it? Virginia Beach resident Sarah Thomas

What Are The Instructions? First you need to slide the battery compartment cover off and install a new 9 volt battery. Then switch your Bark Off to "ON". Set the appropriate sensitivity level. There are two sensitivity levels. When set "HI" Bark Off will be able to detect the barking sound further away (up to 20 feet). When the lever is set to "LO" Bark Off will detect the barking sound in a smaller range (around 10 feet). Place the Bark Off in a spot where your dog barks most frequently. You may also mount Bark Off on an indoor wall or door by using the wall-mounting tray. So now when your dog barks within range of the unit, Bark Off will emit a high-pitched sound, signaling your dog to stop barking. In some cases, you will see an immediate response (like our tester did). Your dog will be startled and stop barking when that happens you should immediately praise your dog for stopping his barking. In time your dog will learn to associate barking with this unpleasant high-pitched sound, and will stop unnecessary barking.

Did it work? Our tester was really impressed because it worked so quickly. She had shock collars on her dog in the past but felt bad about using them. So she liked that Bark Off was a humane way to get her dogs to stop barking whenever the door bell rang.

Cost/Availability? We purchased Bark Off for $9.99 at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Additional Comments: It's recommended that if your dog barks unnecessarily in multiple locations you should purchase several Bark Offs and place them around the house.
