Does It Work: Smart Lidz

Rob Boller is frustrated with the containers he uses for leftovers.
"There’s not only spillage if the container is full but also smells seep through whatever is in the refrigerator," he notes.
So, he's trying Chef Tony's Smart Lidz, which promises to vacuum-seal any container, no matter what the size or material -- without leaks.
Boller’s skeptical, thinking it sounds too good to be true. But he chooses one of the four lids in the pack and puts it on.
"I would say that's a perfect fit," he says, a bit amazed.
Then he puts a lid on top of the Fettuccini Alfredo and pushs in the middle to create the vacuum seal.
"It seems like it's just the shrink wrap itself sticking onto the lid, so obviously you could still easily have a spill," says Boller.
However, there's one final test Smart Lidz has to pass.
"I don't smell anything," he announces after sealing the container. "It looks like it is sealing the food and the smells are not seeping out."
That changes when he releases the vacuum seal.
“It comes right off and you can definitely smell it now," he notes.
Boller also likes the fact that this is a "green" product.
“For people who are big on the environment, you won't have to keep buying more and more of the shrink wrap in boxes and disposing of all that," he stresses.
