CHESAPEAKE - A Chesapeake church is trying to do something about the high price of gasoline.

On Saturday, March 23, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, Vertical Church will cover 15-cents of a gallon of gas. This is the second year for the Spring Gas Buy-Down, which uses money that would have been spent on marketing its Easter services.

The buy-down will be at the 7-Eleven at 956 N. Battlefield Blvd.

“We know budgets are tight and families are struggling. As we were thinking through how we want to spend our time and resources this Easter, we decided we would rather help members of the community instead of paying for traditional advertising,” says Lead Organizational Pastor Brian Owens. “We simply would rather help others than ourselves.”

Vertical Church meets at Regal Cinemas-Greenbrier on Jarman Road each Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
