VIRGINIA BEACH - Team Hope will be stepping out at Mt. Trashmore this month to raise money for research and spread awareness about Huntington's Disease. Over 30,000 Americans are affected by Huntington's disease, which is a genetic, progressive, degenerative brain disorder and currently there is no cure. It affects the muscle coordination like Parkinson's disease, leads to cognitive decline and psychiatric problems, and because it is genetic, it destroys families.
The Huntington's Disease Support Group of Virginia is putting on the fundraiser, with the support of EVMS and Sentara. Registration begins at 3pm on Saturday, September 15 and the walk commences at 4pm.
