CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) -- The average price of a gallon of gasoline nationwide has dropped about 7 cents over the past three weeks.

The Lundberg Survey of fuel prices puts the average price for a gallon of regular at $3.41.

Analyst Trilby Lundberg says the national average for a gallon of mid-grade is $3.57. For premium it's $3.69 a gallon.

Lundberg says diesel prices fell 5 cents a gallon over the past three weeks, to $3.73.

Jackson, Miss., had the nation's lowest average price for gas at $3. Chicago had the highest at $3.78.

Triple A says the current average price in Virginia is $3.251 for regular, $3.431 for mid-grade and $3.574 for premium. Diesel sits at $3.608. In Hampton Roads, prices are currently, on average,$3.285 for regular, $3.443 for mid-grade, $3.583 for premium gas and a gallon of diesel costs $3.568.

In North Carolina, prices are about the same: $3.261 regular, $3.407 mid-grade, $3.565 for premium and diesel at $3.695.
