A northern California produce supplier is voluntarily recalling romaine lettuce because of fears of a possible E. coli contamination.

The lettuce in question is field fresh wrapped single head romaine that was available in retail stores starting August 2nd.

It is in a plastic bag with a UPC number 0-27918-20314-9 and may have a "best by" date of August 19th.

More than 2,000 cases were potentially affected.

They were shipped to 19 states including Virginia and North Carolina.

So far, there have been no reported illnesses associated with the product.
