Do you struggle getting the cork out of your bottle of wine?
Wine Mastique may look a bit odd, but it claims to be the world's smartest and easiest corkscrew.
Wine consultant Andrea Simeck put it to the Does It Work test.
She liked the fact that it had an instruction sheet with pictures.
Simek also found that wine mastique was not as confusing and cumbersome to use as some others she's tried.
"It feels great. As a matter of fact, it's a lot more light weight than the rabbit," Simek said.
Simek inspected the mechanics of the wine mastique.
"The good thing about this is the spiral is nice and far apart, so it can spiral down the bottle neck very easily and it can come up very easily. That's key, especially when you're having some older bottles like some older bordeauxs."
Next, she tried the foil cutter that comes with it.
Then, she used it to open the bottle. She secured the wine bottle inside the grip, then pulled the handle forward to insert the corkscrew, then pulled the handle back to take out the cork.
"That was pretty easy. It worked out pretty well."
It works. I'm real impressed. Actually this might be in my drawer."
Wine mastique sells $19.99 at area stores.
