Keith Henaghan is an engineer by profession. At home, he's also the seamstress. That's why he agreed to try out Handy Stitch on his son's jeans.
He thought threading the needle would be the most difficult part. L ittle did he know that figuring out the batteries would be a real challenge.
Turns out, it was the spring holding the battery in place that was problematic. Once that was fixed. the Handy Stitch was ready to go.
After a couple of practice tries, Henaghan was ready to go.
The Handy Stitch was humming along nicely until Henaghan came to a seam. That was hard to go over, but he also noted there wasn't a guide to stitch on a straight line.
So, he drew a chalk line to follow, but he still had problems.
Frustrated, he gave up. "It absolutely doesn't work. Well, for about five seconds, it worked great," he said. "The whole thing is very, very difficult. It's very clumsy."
