Lung infection claims 14-year-old's life
11:00 PM EDT on Monday, April 14, 2008
CHESAPEAKE -- A 14-year-old suffering from cystic fibrosis died Monday.
When Emily Haley was ten-years-old, someone stole a donation jar filled with money to help pay her medical bills. The community stepped up to help her, raising $500,000 so Emily could qualify for a double lung transplant.
A few weeks ago, her body started fighting a losing battle with a lung infection.
Her family thanks everyone for their support and hope her story will inspire everyone to become organ donors.
The money for Emily's transplant will go towards the Children's Organ Transplant Association.
