NORFOLK -- A special green space has just been dedicated in Norfolk.
"The Plot," at Granby and Main Streets, is now open to the public. On Wednesday, city officials and those who worked hard to rejuvenate the area participated in a dedication ceremony for phase one of the project.
Volunteers spent a lot of hours and put in a lot of hard work to turn "The Plot," which was a vacant two-acre lot, into a public urban space where visitors can enjoy things like an entertainment amphitheater, art, a basketball court, and public wi-fi. It showcases reclaimed materials.
Originally, a new Westin hotel had been planned for the site, but that project fell through.
"I think it's important to have that place where you can have that serendipitous moment and meet other people," said Zack Miller. "This place gives you that."
