Natasha Barrett joined 13NEWS in 2003 as a reporter. Her news career spans several states and countries. At 13NEWS, several of her stories prompted police investigations. One included catching a man who exposed himself to children at a Norfolk elementary school. He was later convicted in court. Following another investigation, the State Alcohol and Beverage Commission of Virginia shut down a Virginia Beach nightclub for violations after several shootings. While at WVEC, she has also covered a number of hurricanes. Hurricane Isabel in 2003, traveling to Florida and Alabama for Hurricane Ivan in 2004, and riding out Hurricane Ophelia on Hatteras Island, NC in 2005. Before joining WVEC, Natasha worked as a reporter in Waco, Texas, where she won a Texas Associated Press award for spot news coverage. She covered the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy, deployments at Fort Hood, the world’s largest Army installation, and President Bush visiting his Crawford ranch with several heads of state. Natasha also worked as a reporter in Corpus Christi, Texas, and spent time working overseas at CNBC Europe in London. She also worked behind the scenes in our nation’s capitol at CBS News in Washington during the President Clinton Impeachment Hearings. Natasha holds a BA in Broadcast Journalism and Computer Information
Systems from American University in Washington, DC. In her spare
time, Natasha likes traveling and visiting her two sisters. She
is originally
from Houston. |
