VIRGINIA BEACH - A Va. Beach woman was in court Tuesday afternoon after being cited for having chickens as pets.
Tracy Okroy has 22 chickens in her back yard, but city law states only animals classified as companion animals are allowed.
Her attorney Gary Byler says no one has complained about Okroy having chickens.
She says having chickens as pets is part of a national "green" movement.
After spending the day in court, the hearing had to be postponed because her attorney had to leave for a meeting with the governor.
Okroy's new court date is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 27.
