VIRGINIA BEACH - The owner of a puppy that Va. Beach officers say was beaten as discipline is due in court Monday afternoon.
21-year-old Robert McFarland was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty after Animal Control officers investigated how "Rudy" got a ruptured eardrum, fractured eye socket and blood around its eye.
The 18-week old Pit bull mix has been in the care of Va. Beach Animal Control for more than a month.
McFarland is due in General District Court at 2:00 p.m., according to online records.
