YORK COUNTY -- A York County babysitter is charged in the death of a child in her care.

31-year-old Kayla Ziegenhagen of Challenger Avenue in the Landing at Langley Air Force Housing Complex was arrested Thursday after the 16-month-old girl died from strangulation, York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators say a preliminary autopsy found the little girl died after she became entangled in a safety seat harness on August 12.   They say she left the toddler and an 8-year-child unattended in a house for several hours without supervision.

Ziegenhagen, who is charged with felony murder and two counts of felony child neglect, is being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
