FRANKLIN--A worker died Friday after an apparent crane accident on the grounds of International Paper.
Don Robertson, spokesman for Isle of Wight County, says he believes the man was a contract employee from Roanoke Rapids. NC and reportedly was trapped in a crane.
IP spokeswoman Julie Brennan said the man worked for a TS Tissue, a company that's leasing space at the IP facility. TS Tissue recycles waste paper into tissue for napkins and towels.
The man was taken to Southampton Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name hasn't been released.
Robertson believes the incident will be investigated by OSHA.
