VIRGINIA BEACH - Police are looking for the man who stabbed a woman in the parking lot of a grocery store Friday afternoon.

It happened around 12:45 p.m. outside Kroger on Providence Road.  Police believe the man may have tried to rob her.

Officers say the woman should recover from her wounds.

Allison Leapard posted on the WVEC-TV 13 Facebook page, "I was JUST there and was wondering what was going on with all the police cars and the helicopter. I got there just as an ambulance was leaving. Scary. I hope they find him."

Jacky Maggio added, "That is right down the street from my house! Going to make sure my house is locked."

The man ran off as officers responded to the scene.  She was able to tell police her attacker is white, in his 20s and was wearing jeans. She said it's possible he had a beard.

Officials have not put any schools on lock down.
