Woman dead in Va. Beach home
VIRGINIA BEACH – Police say a woman was killed by her boyfriend's nephew early Monday.
Authorities were called to 1317 Faraid Lane just before 7:00 a.m. for a domestic dispute, according to a search warrant.
The warrant says the victim, identified as Julie Lynn Bass, 46, apparently died of blunt force trauma.
According to police, Joshua Heim, 20 was staying at the couple's home while they were in California. Heim is the nephew of Bass' boyfriend.
"The nephew was watching the house, and I was watching the house, also," says next door neighbor Jamil Ghachem. "I didn't even know she was back until now, you know, it's just a sad way to hear that she's back."
The 46-year-old returned to Hampton Roads by herself late Sunday. Her boyfriend, who is working in California, called officers Monday morning after a relative called him out of concern for Bass. When police got to the couple's house, they found the front door unlocked and Bass dead in a back room.
A judge denied bond for Heim on Tuesay afternoon. He remains in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center on a murder charge. He's due in court again on January 14, 2010, according to the commonwealth's attorney office.
No motive for the killing has been revealed.
According to the warrant, investigators looked for "any and all edged weapons, blood, fibers, trace evidence and identifying documents" inside the home.
