JAMES CITY COUNTY -- An elderly woman who thought her vehicle was in park crashed into a James City County restaurant Thursday afternoon, officials said.
According to police spokesman Stephen A. Rubino, the James City County woman crashed her Toyota sedan into the Au Bonn Pain restaurant located at 6692 Richmond Rd around noon.
The driver said she stepped on the accelerator, the vehicle jumping the curb, knocking down some of the patio fencing and crashing into the restaurant wall.
Rubino said there were people in the restaurant but nobody, including the driver, was injured.
The structure was checked by the fire department and declared safe.
