RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — More than 185,000 utility customers are without power in Virginia, with more than half located in the snow-slammed northern Virginia area.

Virginia's largest electric utility, Dominion Virginia Power, reports 74,390 outages in the northern portion of the state, with 17,748 without power in the Shenandoah Valley and western Piedmont. In Southside Virginia, 5,247 are without power.

Appalachian Power reports 41,717 customers without power. The most are reported in Henry County — 18,000 — with 7,500 outages reported in Patrick County. Both are in Southside.
