VIRGINIA BEACH -- Police said Wednesday that the driver of van that flipped on I-264 and caught fire Tuesday night will not be charged because he had a medical condition.
The vehicle was riding on the boardwalk, struck a concrete planter and then went onto I-264 west around 9:40 p.m. The vehicle sideswiped a slower moving vehicle, overturned and caught fire near Birdneck Road.
Three police officers pulled the driver to safety while others put out the fire.
The driver was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
