VIRGINIA BEACH (AP) -- A harbor seal found injured near a fishing pier is back in his element.
The Virginia Aquarium and Science Center's marine stranding response team released the 35-pound seal at First Landing State Park at 11:00 a.m. Friday.
Aquarium officials say the seal, named Puddy, gained 13 pounds during rehabilitation. Puddy was found with shark bites on its side south of the Little Island Fishing Pier in Sandbridge on Dec. 28.
