SUFFOLK-- Police have made an arrest in connection to a double shooting that took place in Suffolk early Thursday, but the suspect is not charged with the shooting itself.
Rasheed Leitiff David, 23, of Suffolk, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm while in possession of a schedule II drug, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of a stolen firearm.
Police say a group of people went to the home in the 300 block of Hunter Street to confront David when gunfire was exchanged.
28-year-old Diana Yvette Jones was killed and Veronica Wiggins-Ingram was wounded in the 1:00 a.m. shooting, police said.
Family and friends say Jones was a nice and always smiling.
Wiggins-Ingram was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Her condition is unknown at this time.
David is currently being held in Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
