VIRGINIA BEACH-- Not every sailor gets to come home for the holidays.

That’s why each year, the USO of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia has a party for families of deployed service members.  Saturday, families gathered at Joint Base Little Creek Fort Story.

“In a nutshell, the USO provides goodness to the troops. That’s why we exist. We focus on the active duty military and their families,”  Paula Morgan explained.

There was plenty of music and dancing to put everyone in a good mood while missing their loved ones.   "I have a friend of mine who is pregnant and due soon. Her husband will be here for the delivery, but then will have to leave soon afterward. I think that's a bit tough,"  Margo Anderson remarked.

Nita Miles has a family member deployed on the USS Winston Churchill. “We’re hanging in there the best we can. It’s stuff like this that helps us get through.”
