ATLANTA-- An Atlanta company is recalling salsa and balela sold under the Trader Joe's brand due to a possible listeria contamination.

According to PilotOnline.com, six southern states are on the list of places for the voluntary recall. Simmering Soup Inc. is the company that makes the products and they say the recall applies to the mild salsa with a use-by date of August 9, and balela with a use-by date of July 31.

The products were shipped last week to Trader Joe's stores in southern Virginia, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Since the recall, Trader Joe's has removed the salsa and balela from it's shelves.

PilotOnline.com says that none of the products by Simmering Soups Inc. were tested positive for the bacteria and no illnesses have been reported. But the products were made with diced onions that were processed in a plant where listeria monocytogenes were found.
