HAMPTON -- Police have released more information about a deadly double shooting that took place early in the morning on Saturday, July 12 in Hampton.
In the incident, two men were shot, and one, 21 year-old Tyquan Woods, died on the scene. The other man, an unidentified 25 year-old, was transported in critical condition.
On Friday, Police identified two suspects in the shooting. They said one man, 22 year-old Calvin Jamar Schofield is already in custody, while the other, identified as 25 year-old Larry Devon Scott, remains at large. Police said Scott should be considered armed and dangerous.
Both suspects are charged with one count of Homicide, and one count of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
According to new details from the investigation. the suspects and the victims knew each other, were in the 200 block of North Back River Road when they got into an argument, which escaleted into a physical altercation. At some point, police say firearms were displayed and the victims were subsequently shot.
After the 25-year-old victim had been shot, he got into a 2007 Chevrolet Impala and drove northbound on North Back River Road where he struck a curb in the area of Lincoln Street and Union Street. He then got out his car and was able to make it a short distance before he sought help in the 500 block of West Queen Street, where police found him.
Woods was found at the scene of the shooting where he was pronounced dead.
