10/30 UPDATE:  Kasheim Ra’Shawn Bryant, 22, is charged with Felony Eluding Police, Driving with Suspended or Revoked Operator’s License, and Fictitious Plates.

VIRGINIA BEACH -- One person is in custody after leading police on a car chase and causing a nine-vehicle crash in Virginia Beach, officials said Tuesday.

According to police spokeswoman Tonya Borman, police tried to pull the vehicle over around 3:45 p.m. on Virginia Beach Blvd and Horace Avenue.

Borman says the suspect hit a couple other vehicles on Cleveland Street and Brian Ave. trying to get away from police.

Police arrested the suspect after he ran from the scene.  His name has not yet been released.

One driver was transported to the hospital with what was thought to be serious injuries, but was later released. A second driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and was later released.
