9 people homeless after two-alarm fire in Suffolk

UPDATE 9:27 p.m.: 9 people were displaced by the fire, according to officials. The Red Cross is assisting them.
The fire marshal's office is investigating.

SUFFOLK -- Suffolk firefighters were on the scene of a two alarm fire Tuesday night at Wilson Pines Apartments, located in the 2500 block of East Washington Street in Downtown Suffolk.

Crews received a 911 call around 7:36 p.m. and were on the scene by 7:42 p.m.

The fire was confined to one building at the complex. Three apartments were damaged - two by fire and the third has smoke and water damage. 

No injuries have been reported.

The number of people displaced by the fire is unknown at this time.

The 2500 block of East Washington Street was closed for a period of time, but it has reopened.
