NEWPORT NEWS -- Two men were injured after an argument turned violent in the parking lot of a business early Saturday morning.
Officer Holly McPherson confirmed that emergency dispatchers got a call around 1:00 a.m. in reference to shots being fired near 6139 Jefferson Avenue.
When officers arrived they found a 21-year-old Newport News man with gunshot wounds to his upper body and leg. He was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
While investigating the shooting in the parking lot of the Hookah King, officers were alerted about a second gunshot victim at an area hospital. The second victim is also 21-years-old and had been taken to the hospital by friends. Police say a bullet grazed his head and foot, but his wounds were non-life threatening.
Investigators have determined that two groups of men got into an argument in the Hookah King parking lot and at some point shots were fired. The first male victim was involved in the argument, but police say that the second victim just happened to be in the parking lot during the shooting.
We're told the victims do not know each other. There is no information about potential suspects at this time.
