DARE CO., NC -- Authorities suspended school bus traffic and shut down Colington Road early Friday after someone shot into T.J.'s Gas and Grill at Colington Harbor.

Dare County Sheriff's Office officials say the shooting occurred around 5:00 a.m. when the store on Colington Road was closed.

As K-9 units searched for the shooter, police asked residents not send their children out to bus stops or allow them to ride bikes to school.  Bus traffic resumed around 7:50 a.m.

Jeff Toll lives behind the store.

"It was a little crazy, the gunshots went off, we weren't sure what they were if they were hunters, it was a non normal thing and then all of the sudden we hear the sirens," he said.

Investigators say two guns may have been used in the shooting. They've conducted interviews, gathered evidence at several locations and conducted searches, but they're still looking for the gunman.

One person was arrested on an unrelated charge late Friday morning, but they call him a person of interest in the case.  His name wasn't released because of the continuing investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call the Dare Co. Sheriff's Office at 252-475-5980 or the Dare Community Crime Line at 800-745-2746.
