WINDSOR -- Police call it a case of attempted murder that took place at a gas pump. The weapon: an SUV.

Windsor officers arrested Pernell Randolph, Jr. September 20. They believe Randolph intentionally drove his SUV into Kyle Francis' pick-up truck at Supreme Gas Station on West Windsor Boulevard August 27.

Francis, who was fueling his truck at the time, managed to jump out of the way.

After the SUV hit the truck, the pick-up shot about 55 feet forward, hitting the base of a large sign. A piece of that sign eventually fell, hurting a police officer's left leg.

Randolph is in Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

Police say he and Francis do not know each other, and they are not sure why Randolph hit the truck.
