Police investigate man's possible connection to nearly 20 car break-ins

ELIZABETH  CITY, N.C. --  An Elizabeth City man has been charged with breaking into a parked vehicle and stealing items inside. 

30-year-old Tyrese Antron Cofield was arrested Sunday and charged with felony breaking and entering of motor vehicle and felony larceny after breaking and entering.  Other charges are pending.

Police are also investigating Cofield's possible connection to the attempted theft of a Bobcat tractor and nearly 20 other break-ins on the Elizabeth City Sate University campus.

Cofield is being held at Albemarle District Jail on $4,000 bond.
