VIRGINIA BEACH - A Virginia Beach man was arrested Friday after a suspected meth lab was discovered in a shed behind his house.

Police arrested 34-year-old Jeffery Todd Doerson of the 1300 block of Old Clubhouse Rd. and charged him with manufacturing methamphetamine.

Police and fire officials were called to a shed near Shipps Corner around 3:30 a.m. and blocked off a stretch of the road.

Officers had to put on protective clothing before going into the building to see what's inside.

Officers with Va. Beach Police and the Drug Enforcement Agency are handling the investigation.

Doerson is being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.
