NORFOLK – Police have made a sizeable drug bust involving an Old Dominion University student. It all happened after a drug dog sniffed random packages at the post office.
Authorities say 21-year old Daniel Reich was receiving between two and three pounds of marijuana, weekly, by mail from California.
The bust happened at a home on West 41st Street near ODU.
Neighbor Sarah Whittaker heard Reich made lots of money. In fact, court records show that when police busted him, Reich had about $1,000 in his wallet and $4,000 in his bedroom.
They also found the ODU student was growing marijuana inside the home. Reich admitted to ordering $2,000 - $3,000 of marijuana weekly. Officers also seized mushrooms and ecstasy pills from the 41st Street home.
Police also charged roommates David Drewry and Michael Hayes for drug offenses.
Reich has been convicted of four felony drug charges. He’ll be sentenced in October and faces up to 40 years in jail.
