NORFOLK (AP) -- A charter fishing boat captain is receiving probation and a fine after admitting that he illegally harvested striped bass two years ago during a fishing trip out of Virginia Beach.

54-year-old Raymond Carroll Webb, of White Stone on the Northern Neck, was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Norfolk.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that he previously pleaded to trafficking in illegally harvested striped bass. He also pleaded guilty on behalf of his company, Peake Enterprises.

Webb was sentenced to three years of probation, fined $3,000. The judge also ordered his company to pay $1,000 in restitution and ordered Webb to maintain a monitoring system during the term of probation that will give law enforcement real-time tracking of any of his vessels.
