NORFOLK-- Festive floats and music filled the streets for the Grand Illumination parade.

13NEWS is a proud sponsor of the event that kicks off the holiday season.

"I wanted to enjoy the festivities with my family and show my daughter the Christmas lights for the first time." Gary Sullivan came with baby little girl and his wife, Lisa. "The first time we came, I was pregnant with our daughter. Now, I'm pregnant with my second child."

As the bands made their way down the Waterside Dr. and Granby St. route, some already had in mind what they came to see. "Isn't Santa coming? That's what we're all here for," Katrina Harris laughed.

But beyond the floats and colorful lights, for others the night represents a season of family time. "It's a time of being together; a wonderful time."
