NORFOLK -- The City of Norfolk is being recognized for its patriotism.
The National Civic League named Norfolk one of ten winners of the 2013 All America City Awards.
Hours before the Fourth of July fireworks at Town Point Park, Mayor Paul Fraim was presented the award.
It's an honor given each year to towns and cities for outstanding civic achievement.
"I think it means that this community of Norfolk works well we come together well you know it's a good place to do business, great place to raise a family and it's an American city and we're very proud of that honor," said Mayor Fraim.
Norfolk was honored for its innovative approach to flooding, veteran support and its civic initiatives.
The Mayor says the honor will make the city more appealing to attract new industries to the area.
