NORFOLK -- Fire crews put out a fire at Lyon Shipyard on Claiborne Avenue Monday afternoon.
The call came in at 12:10 for a fire at a building which is being demolished.
NFD says crews were on scene four minutes later and found smoke coming from a partially demolished building at the ship repair facility. The fire was also reaching the exterior of an adjacent building.
A Norfolk Fire-Rescue spokesman says crews used several hand lines to put out the fire. It was reported under control at 12:25.
Investigators said the fire was started by demolition workers using a cutting torch which accidentally ignited materials inside.
There were no injuries.
