NEWPORT NEWS - A gas leak at a Newport News Target didn't delay the store's 9:00 p.m. Thursday opening for shoppers who wanted an early start on Black Friday deals.
Authorities say the leak happened around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday. Workers said the store was evacuated as a precaution, but no one was hurt.
Fire officials say there was a slight odor of gas when they arrived. They were able to get the leak stopped and then ventilated the store. Crews left about an hour later.
