ELIZABETH CITY, NC -- Pasquotank-Camden Emergency Management Coordinator Christy Saunders says there is a reason county residents didn't hear an emergency siren during last week's storm.
She says it's the same reason a reverse 911 call wasn't sent out ahead of the tornado.
"They aren't practical solutions. The storm had already touched down by the time we could have activated those systems."
Some Elizabeth City residents say they would have liked to see more interaction from the county on social media.
"There really wasn't much at all," said Chrissy Riggs.
There weren't posts at all on the county's page and the EMS page. Both stay active on the site daily, but Saunders encourages residents to stay informed ahead of the storm by following weather reports.
