VIRGINIA BEACH--Police Monday released photos of four people charged with crimes during a violent night at the Oceanfront on Saturday.
19-year-old Kendall Jerad Jones of the 2300 block of Vicker Avenue in Chesapeake, 21-year-old Daqwan Donald Johnson of the 1600 block of Kempsville Road in Norfolk and 19-year-old Keone Devon Perry of the 900 block of Providence Road in Chesapeake are charged with simple assault and larceny of a firearm. Kevon Detroin Perry, 18, of the 900 of Providence Road in Chesapeake was charged with simple assault.
Police say that around 11 p.m., a man was trying to cross in the 300 block of 21st Street when he and the four suspects, who were in a vehicle, started arguing. Police say they confronted the man and assaulted him. That is when, police say, the victim pulled a gun, but it fell to the ground and broke in two pieces.
The suspects allegedly picked up the pieces and drove off in two vehicles but got stuck in traffic on Pacific Avenue. Police arrested the four without further incident.
Jones was being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond and the other three three suspects were released on bond.
The case remains under investigation.
Officials say that was one of 325 calls to 911 about Oceanfront crime between 6 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday.
Officials also reported that from Friday until Sunday 148 people were arrested and a total of 181 felony charges, misdemeanor charges and traffic summons' were issued.
