WINDSOR-Enough money's been raised to cover the cost of basic surgery to remove a large tumor from the nostril of "Trooper," a horse rescued by Kay Burnett at Heaven Scent Equine and Animal Rescue in Windsor.

"We have enough to cover the minimum amount -$3,000," she said.

Trooper does therapy work with people who are terminally ill.  Burnett says it's not clear whether his tumor is cancerous, but she says it's changed his demeanor.

Burnett says the vet will check Trooper again and then they'll pick a date for the surgery.  She says it could cost as much as $5000 for the surgery and post-operative care.
