UPDATE 11/27:  Police say the Crime Line was inundated with tips after the release of surveillance photos, which led to the arrest of 28-year-old Joshua Ross Van Effen of the 200 block of 57th Street in Virginia Beach.

Van Effen was arrested without incident in the 600 block of Treemont Court and is being held without bond in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.  He is charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. 

VIRGINIA BEACH -- Police are looking for the suspect responsible for a bank robbery in Virginia Beach Tuesday. 

Police said a suspect entered the Monarch Bank located at 100 Lynnhaven Parkway around 3 p.m.,  handed the teller a note, implied a weapon and demanded money. 

The suspect took cash and ran from the bank, police said.   

No one was injured during the robbery and no weapon was observed.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’5” to 5’7”, thin build, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black knit cap.
